Backsplash tiling

Tiling a backsplash is relatively easy, as normally it is only a small area and normally only small tiles are used. When tiling a backsplash you must ensure that the substrate to be tiled is dry and free from dirt and grease. One problem with tiling in kitchens is that the substrate is often dry and this causes the adhesive to dry out too quickly, this can be remedied by priming the wall with tiling primer or by priming the surface with PVA, as long as it is recommended by the tile adhesive manufacturers!

This shows the starting point for the first tile. The worktop should be straight and so you can tile straight up from it. |
